Liposuction for the arms is a great way to improve your appearance. By permanently removing the excess fat in this area, it’s possible to achieve beautifully slim and toned arms. However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind before planning your surgery. You must remember that you’ll need to follow your surgeon’s instructions following the procedure. Your surgeon will certainly advise you to avoid lifting anything heavy immediately after your operation. With this in mind, what should you do if you have small children at home? Will you be able to lift your toddler? Or should you wait until your little ones are older to have your lipo procedure?
Caring for Your Arms Post-Lipo
When you have arm liposuction, you’ll need to take care when performing everyday activities for a while. Liposuction is surgery like any other. That means you’ll need to rest and have some downtime following the procedure. Luckily, your recovery period will be relatively short when you have your lipo under a local anesthetic. You should be able to return to your normal activities within a few days. Yet, there are a few things that you’ll still need to avoid for a while longer. One of those things is lifting heavy items. After all, you don’t want to slow down your recuperation or cause yourself any damage. Rushing into lifting anything heavy could cause more swelling and more pain. It could also result in a longer time elapsing before you see the full outcome of your surgery.
Do Children Count As Heavy Weights?
Your surgeon will advise you to avoid lifting weights at the gym for a few weeks post-surgery. This advice will extend to lifting your children. Remember that your children may well be heavier than the weights you would lift at the gym. An average 3-year-old will weigh around 30 pounds. Your surgeon will almost certainly tell you not to lift anything heavier than 5 to 10 pounds immediately post-procedure. This advice will be applicable for at least a couple of weeks.
Should I Avoid Arm Lipo Until My Children Are Older?
For women keen to improve their appearance as quickly as possible, the idea of delaying surgery is an unappealing one. The good news is that there is no need to wait to have arm liposuction. If you have small children at home, you will simply need to arrange some help for a couple of weeks. If a friend or family member can help carry your little one, you should have no issues. Within a couple of weeks, you’ll receive the green light from your surgeon to return to normal lifting activities. Before you know it, you’ll be enjoying rough and tumble play with your toddler again. Even better, you’ll be doing it with wonderfully slim and toned arms!
